New, water-based transparent fire retardant paint for wood!
Protega Wood-C is a transparent, halogen-free, water-based fire retardant paint. It can be used to meet the Fire Rating B-s1,d0 on surfaces of light wood materials indoors. Protega Wood-C transforms into a foam layer when exposed to high temperatures. This layer effectively dampens the heat flow to the substrate. In humid environments (RH>75%) or when a wipeable surface is desired, Protega Wood-C is protected with Protega Topcoat C, which is approved to achieve the Fire Rating B-s1, d0 in combination with the fire retardant paint. Apply a maximum of 100 grams/m² of Protega Topcoat C. For more information on tinting and application, refer to the Protega Topcoat C data sheet.
Protega Wood-C is used indoors on light wood-based substrates such as birch, pine, spruce with a minimum thickness of 8 mm, for B-s1,d0, and density ≥338 kg/m³. For these surfaces, always apply 250 g/m² of the fire retardant paint Protega Wood-C.
When applying tinted Protega Wood-C, it is comparable to applying a tinted glaze, i.e., touch-ups will make the surface whiter. The substrate must be untreated, free from dust and grease. Work should be avoided at ambient temperatures below +10°C. The moisture content in the substrate must not exceed 15%. Apply with a roller, brush, air, or airless spray. Stir well before use. Tools are cleaned with water.
The recommended nozzle is 0.011-0.017 inches with a pressure of 120-160 bar.
