Structural wood

In the event of a fire, wood is exposed to a process of carbonisation that reduces the load carrying capacity of the building. Delaying this process using our system of fire retardant paint can be beneficial in meeting the demands of the fire resistance regulation classification. Our fire retardant paints preserve the architectural design of the wooden structure, which is especially important when historical buildings are to be preserved for coming generations.

The intumescent paints Novatherm 1FR, Novatherm 2FR and Novatherm 4FR foams into a thick layer when exposed to high tempera-tures derived from flames or intensive heat radition from fire. The porous layer of foam effectively extinguishes the flow of heat to treated structure.
